Leora runs The Uncommon Advantage and is a Learning Specialist at the Abraham Joshua Heschel High School. Leora oversees a team of tutors all of whom are current or retired teachers. She works with each tutor to ensure that the educational support is bolstered by empathy and executive function skills.

Leora has taught English Language and Literature at The Abraham Joshua Heschel High School in Manhattan since 2004. She oversaw the Senior Class College Admissions essay at The Abraham Joshua Heschel School. Leora has been an English Language and Literature tutor since 1997 and has specialized on College Admission Essays since 2010. She has a BA in English Literature and Theatre Arts from the University of Pennsylvania and a MA in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University. Leora has taken courses at Hunter College and UCLA (online) as she still enjoys being a student and continuing her professional development.

Leora is Director of WEDU and co-founder of 3GNY (Third Generation New York) an educational non-profit organization that brings together grandchildren of Holocaust survivors. Through Education, Action and Reflection, 3GNY’s WEDU enables the third generation to preserve and perpetuate the memory of the Holocaust.
